Judge Wilson Chan attends to remaining cases before early retirement

High Court Judge Wilson Chan has been asked by Chief Justice Andrew Cheung to take early retirement over judicial plagiarism.

Chan was found to have engaged in judicial plagiarism in a number judgements over the past decade, leading to appeal cases and one complaint.

He went to the High Court as usual this morning to attend to the remaining cases and will leave the office on Friday.

Chief Justice Andrew Cheung issued a statement on Monday, saying that he asked Chan to retire early to uphold public confidence in the judicial system and in judges' independent and professional discharge of their judicial duties.
