HK set to extend jurisdiction over new Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port

Hong Kong is set to take control over the new Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port Area and Related Extended Areas this Friday.

Chief Executive John Lee says the government is working with Shenzhen authorities to push ahead with the preparation work surrounding the city's jurisdiction over the port area.

The Huangang Port Hong Kong Port Area Bill was gazetted and will come into effect this Friday.

The new port facility will be operational 24 hours a day, with the border crossing time in the area shortened to just five minutes.

This as Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law believes the border crossing convenience offered at the port area could greatly boost the appeal of day trips to the city.
