The Hong Kong Observatory issued the amber rainstorm warning this morning.
The rainstorm alert lasted for three hours and was in effect at 8:40 am.
Heavier rainfall could be seen in Wan Chai, Eastern District, Southern District and outlying islands, as well as Sai Kung and Kwun Tong.
The Observatory says the strong thunderstorm bands related to upper-level disturbances and southwest airflow affected Guangdong and the northern South China Sea.
Today will be mostly cloudy with occasional showers and strong thunderstorms. The rain will be heavy at times.
