Flat selection process for Wang Fuk Court owners begins

The flat selection for the Special Sales Exercise for Wang Fuk Court owners began today, with many residents opting for properties in urban areas as well as projects under the Housing Society.

Located in Kwun Tong, the Housing Authority's Green Form Subsidised Home Ownership Scheme Sales Unit recorded 35 applicants on the very first day of the flat selection sessions.

Housing Bureau staff were also deployed on site to provide assistance.

This as Wang Fuk Court property owners were given ten residential estate options located in areas such as Kowloon Bay, Tung Chung, Yuen Long and Tai Po.

One owner said he has to pay an additional 100,000 dollars for his newly chosen home at Kai Tak's Kai Yeung Court.

This former Wang Shing House resident stressed the Kai Tak estate has better infrastructure and is located conveniently near the MTR station.

He added that he still has mixed emotions about the whole situation but believes he will gradually adapt to it.

While this former Wang Yan House resident, who initially wanted to pick the largest unit available at an estate on Anderson Road, was denied the option and had to choose a smaller 500-square-foot apartment.

He emphasised he does not want to live in Tai Po again as it would bring back traumatic memories.

Many of the elderly, meanwhile, preferred to remain in the New Territories.

This former Wang Shing House resident, who selected her new home at Fanling's Sierra Terrace, said she won't get used to living in Kowloon after living in the New Territories for more than four decades.

She hopes to spend her remaining years with her partner in a familiar area.
