In Milan, Italy, clashes broke out between protesters and
police as hooded demonstrators looted shops, damaged properties
and set fires for a second consecutive day.
Protesters were seen climbing onto and jumping on a van,
while others threw objects at a supermarket employee before
entering the store through a broken window and leaving with stolen goods.
Police fired tear gas as demonstrators threw objects and tear gas canisters back.
Streets were left cluttered with bicycles and bins, while shops and a
supermarket were looted.
The unrest followed a peaceful demonstration on Saturday against wars and the
rising cost of living.
According to Italian news agency ANSA, 160 people were taken to
a police station in Milan, 80% of them minors.
