HK insurers: possible part coverage for France trip cancellation

The government issued an amber outbound travel alert for France on Tuesday -- which signifies signs of threat at the country. The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers says under the advisory, insurance covers part of losses in case of trip cancellation to France.

The group says travellers in France will generally remain covered by travel insurance provided that they don't knowingly venture to rioting areas.

As Paris is scheduled to host the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition in November. The United Christian College (Kowloon East) is planning to switch to online participation even when the contest venue is far away from riot zones. Sponsoring group Po Leung Kuk, meanwhile, is urging its schools taking part to communicate with stakeholders and make decisions considering students' safety.
