The Department of Health's HIV testing service website email account is suspected of being misused and has been suspended from operation starting today.

The Department of Health says last night, it discovered that someone used the email account to impersonate the department, sending emails or text messages to citizens claiming that recipients were at risk of contracting HIV and needed to seek medical attention and get tested as soon as possible.

The department says it immediately conducted a comprehensive check of its network system with the outsourced service provider and is seriously investigating the incident. No data loss or leakage has been found so far. During the website service suspension, citizens can call the AIDS Hotline to make an appointment for a free, anonymous test.
