The Commissioner's Office of China's Foreign Ministry in Hong Kong has led a delegation consisting of foreign consul generals in the city on a tour to the Northern Metropolis.

This as Commissioner Cui Jianchun said Hong Kong must work with its international partners to develop the planning area.

Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong Cui Jianchun and Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan earlier led representatives from more than 50 nations on a visit to the Hong Kong part of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park.

Among the delegation are 30 consul generals from various countries including European Union Ambassador Harvey Rouse.

The group subsequently boarded a train to the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area, with Cui stressing the need for Hong Kong and various countries to work together to develop the Northern Metropolis.

We cannot build Hong Kong Northern Metropolis alone.

So, we are here to find out how can we work together.

What can your country and your companies do here, and what can they do for you all?

One common misconception is that the Northern Metropolis is still only a plan on paper.

That is not true.

It has already begin to deliver real results and will gradually enter its metropolis phase.

Some in the delegation believe the tour allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the development site.

I was really impressed to see the development of the Northern Metropolis execution and the future stages and the level of detail.

When you get your campus ready in Northern Metropolis, we can expand our cooperation in science and technology.

Also, I see that more Russian students are coming to Hong Kong.

This as Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong attended a separate event noting seven local universities have signed agreements to establish a presence at Loop Academy One in the Northern Metropolis University Town.
