Leaders of Russian political parties gathered at the Central Election Commission
in Moscow on Wednesday
for a lottery to determine the order in which parties will appear on ballots
for September's parliamentary elections.
The Chair of Russia's Central Election Commission
Ella Pamfilova oversaw the ballot lottery.
The ruling United Russia Party representative Aleksandr Karelin
drew the top spot on the ballot.
Various other party representatives drew numbers.
Leonid Slutsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia
whose party drew position number three
said the ballot order was of little significance.
Russia's parliamentary elections are scheduled for September 20.
